Ramble: a walk without a definite route, taken merely for pleasure
|
|
|
Seattle Ramblers is YOUR rambling club. Currently made up of just four members, this is the coolest new club in the city.
We like to ramble through great places in Seattle. Great places like Volunteer Park, Capitol Hill bar crawl (no alcoholic drinks please - tea and coffee welcome), and other great places TBA. Please contact our director of rambling programs, if you have any route suggestions (sorry, boring places are out of the question).
Walking is one of the easiest ways to get fit - it's free, fun, sociable and anyone can do it! I know its raining and there are great shows on TV (you pay for cable so why not get value for money?) but rambling is waay way better. Get out among the trees, wild life and fellow Seattleites and breath the clean air - hey! leave some for me ;)
So now the sales pitch is over and you know what to do. Send us your money and walk until your little heart is fit and content. Contact the Rambler's President for more information today.

Vegas and the G Canyon - Mar 08

04/14/08
The ramblers packed cereal for reliable movements and jetted to VEGAS and the Grand Canyon for this; the latest and most audacious ramble to date.
I would like to thank the President for sanctioning the TWO night stay at the Hooters casino.. It really was the cheapest option available.. uherm.

Lake Barclay Summit Bid - Sep 07

Colder than a witches' tit, two ramblers and one ringer head out to concor konka concer beat the winter wilderness of Lake Barclay with the crude and blunt weapons of PBR and a plastic-sack rain coat.

Wow guys, what a way to ring in my triple X. Sunshine, lake, ramble, beer, ramble and a strange but friendly old biker couple. Top stuff.
I felt very free and unencumbered by material wealth when we burnt that buck. In a round-about way I got that buck back not tipping a window washer at the lights so I figure we're even on that account. Pay it forward man.
I would like to state for the record that I did win 4 risk pieces on that first hand of cards - I don't like practice rounds. Other than that I enjoyed the BBQ road food and 2 days of dogs. Really spesh. Thanks pals.

It is great to be back after the longest and most exciting ramble yet - the midweek Washington fishing ramble. Sadly we have lost one rambler to a lesser club and another rambler has a real job so the presedent and visionary set off to tame some of Washinton's ferocious fish and to summit an as yet untouched peak.
As you can see from the photos we had a really great time. Although there are no photos of fish I can assure you that one was caught. And it stayed caught.

To surmise in words; to share a fleeting and ideal vision; to convey from the pounding human heart to the less-locomotive masses is a futile task when events are so momentous: I am proud to report that this past weekend a once small group of rambling extremists has taken the message overseas - to the San Juan Islands.
That's right. We stretched our legs overseas. Thanks to the ladies for putting on a great spread; the chaps built up a vast hunger outside making the fire. Craig you still owe me $75 bucks for the cabin (thought I had forgotten eh?).

Fresh-air overload! Wow, thanks for the great ramble guys. Craig, your trail mix was a hearty treat at the end of the hike! Very impressed with your can-do attitude on the trail - nice river fording. Jessica, sorry I saw you getting changed in the car. It really was an accident. H, you left your Value Village gear in my trunk. You should consider getting better clothes so you look like the rest of us.
Guys, I can't wait until next time. Please tell your friends that I plan to give a motivational speech and team building session - just fall back onto my chest; I gottcha!

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the first club-wide ramble. The event went very well even though it was arranged at the last minute and clearly past most of our more senior member's bedtimes.
On a sour note I noticed that a couple of the ladies arrived rather late and in a questionable state.
Please help to keep future rambles on Seattle's many wonderful trails and byways and away from fluorescent lit, Mexican themed dive bars. You know who you are. Moan over :)!

The originator ramble. Before the rambling club was a twinkle in the visionary's eye. Like watching the big bang.
